About AIESEC

Organizations all over the world are trying to make a positive impact on our society...with their own ideals and ideologies. AIESEC stands in much the same queue...for the same purpose, but with a unique approach to the goal. AIESEC, the world's largest student organization, provides an international platform to young minds across the globe to enhance their leadership qualities. Overwhelming statistics confirm much the same. Apart from providing over 6500 leadership positions and delivering over 350 conferences to 28,000 members , it also runs an exchange program which guides over 4400 students and even recent graduates by providing them an opportunity to live and work in another country and hence render themselves as an interface to cultural exchange among countries. Presently having its roots in more than 100 countries, it collaborates with over 5000 organizations spanning the globe and gives its members an opportunity to be a part of more than 350 global and national forums.

AIESEC provides over 5500 global internship opportunities with leading organizations from the corporate, development, student and education sector in over 105 countries. It basically provides four different types of internships. The first one being Management Traineeship designed to suit the needs of the students from business, accounting, finance, economics and management backgrounds. The next one is Technical Traineeship for students possessing IT, Computer Science and Engineering knowledge and would like to work mainly in areas like web development, programming, system design and analysis. The third category focuses on the Development Traineeship which is an open to all opportunity for those who show keen interest in community development issues, environmental issues and rural development. The duration of the internships under these three categories varies from two to eighteen months. The fourth one speaks of the Educational Traineeship which is for those who wish to impart knowledge of English language in the primary level, private sector and secondary or university level. Its duration is from two to twelve months. AIESEC provides the necessary grooming before one takes up any such traineeship.

The recruited AIESEC members in different parts of the globe have the opportunity to participate in varied projects and initiatives of their local chapters, facilitate the global internship program across 105 countries with some of the leading organizations globally in the corporate, development and the education sector, leading teams consisting of talented individuals from different backgrounds, manage and develop AIESEC India's finance, communications, external relations, talent management, information systems and brand strategies. They are in a position to go for global internships of their choice anywhere within the vast network of 105 countries across which AIESEC spreads out. The National Leadership Development Seminar is held annually in September which is attended by more than 300 youth volunteers, the national partners and alumni. These are but a few opportunities enjoyed by the Aiesecers...

Wait!!! AIESEC is not just about getting interns. Being the largest youth organization of the world, we realize our potential to change the face of the society. We take upon us the responsibility for the same. AIESEC chapters across the country and all round the globe are running projects on important issues concerning people and their environment. AIESEC Hyderabad conducts a workshop named Balkalakaar every year wherein it provides a platform to the underprivileged children to develop their art form skills. It started with a small number of 250 and within four years of its inception it grew to a mammoth turnout of over 4000 children from across the city. AIESEC is well aware of the fact that the economic progress of a country is heavily dependent on the strength and vitality of its entrepreneurs. EUREKA, the entrepreneurship learning network provides a platform to the aspiring entrepreneurs to make links with corporate houses, entrepreneurs, non profit organizations and networks. It brings together these different stakeholders on a common platform through physical and virtual forums with the objective of impacting the issue of entrepreneurship.

AIESEC has 16 chapters in India, one of them being AIESEC Kolkata. AIESEC in Kharagpur is presently a budding extension of the AIESEC Kolkata chapter. AIESEC in Kolkata worked on many events and projects successfully like Stock Euphoria of 2002, Yuva I and Yuva II of 2006 and Conclave of 2007. It is going to conduct a project named Lakshya scheduled to be held in November. It calls upon some 10,000 street children and will be conducting painting and other art form competitions. We intend not only to aid AIESEC Kolkata in their venture but also conduct a similar competition, a smaller version of the same down here in Kharagpur.

"I have lived and lead people in 3 countries. I have travelled across 20 countries & have friends in more than 50. The world is my playground today because of AIESEC."

These inspiring words are of Shantanu Bawari who is working for the world’s largest Wealth Manager and a premier global Investment Bank, UBS. He is helping setup the Learning and Development function of UBS in India. His mediocrity in studies never disheartened him. Instead he thought of channelizing his energy into something creative. It was then that he had his first interaction with AIESEC and continued as its member for 6 long years...It was his journey of self discovery, and today he stands committed to bring about a positive change in the society...
